HR for Success - A Success!

Tuesday 23rd June 2009 dawned bright and sunny - a great omen for an action-packed and exciting day for all the delegates, exhibitors and speakers at the Colchester and Ipswich CIPD Group inaugural conference.

Thank you to all the visitors to the Clarity Learning and Development stand who entered the prize draw (winner to be announced next week), contributed to the "challenge wall" and had their learning and development's health checked! Anne Cannings, Traci Edwards and Andrew Rea who were running the stand all commented on the enthusiasm of the visitors.

Key note speeches from Ruth Proctor and Ruth Badger opened and closed the day with some thought provoking comments and ideas for everyone to take away. 12 different seminars proved popular with all the delegates with topics ranging from mediation to diversity, from senior management development to reward strategies; exhibition visitors benefited from Taster Topics and Ask the Expert Sessions.

The volunteers on the organising committee (including Clarity Learning and Development's Director, Jackie Clifford) worked as a great team to ensure that the day was delivered in the most professional and friendly way possible - everyone hopes that delegates feel the balance was right!

Here's to future success for everyone involved.

Accelerate your learning

The previous post was about preparing to attend the Accelerated Learning Diploma course. This one reflects on Days 1 and 2...

Attending the course reinforced the beliefs that Clarity's Director, Jackie Clifford, has about learning:

• We can never stop doing it

• When we feel a little uncomfortable, that's probably when the biggest learning is taking place

• We can learn so much from working with others who share our interests and passions

• The organisations who keep trying new learning methods, who encourage their trainers and managers to develop and who are willing to take some chances on new ideas will see tangible benefits

• Engaging our learners on as many levels as possible will support and increase learning

• Designing and delivering sessions that will appeal to a range of learning styles and intelligences makes them fun, memorable and above all relevant - so that learners will want to go back and implement their learning in the workplace
