Sara Thorpe and Jackie Clifford first met as part of the CHQ Training Team for Girlguiding UK. They wrote their first book - Dear Trainer - after searching for a really practical guide for trainers which didn't seem to exist! Dear Trainer was published in 2000 and is written in the format of e-mails between two colleagues asking for advice and guidance on the different situations that come up inside and outside the training room.

In 2003 Jackie and Sara wrote The Coaching Handbook. This book is a practical guide to coaching aimed at managers, but containing useful ideas for anyone who uses coaching to help others improve their performance. This book contains a structure for coaching, case studies and activities to use in coaching sessions.

Most recently Jackie and Sara have written Workplace Learning and Development which is a practical guide to delivering learning via methods other than training. Both the authors fervently believe that learning does not just happen in a formal training setting. Much learning takes place via a myriad of other activities and this book explores many of these.
